Unreal Tournament STRIKE FORCE MOD

Overall

First of all I must say when I first heard of the Strike Force Mod I thought "here we go with yet another halfassed weapon and skining game mod" I could not have been more wrong. The people that created this mod are very talented people, the folkes at Epic games could take a lesson from these guys. Before I go any further I must point out allthough this is classified as a game modification it is closer to a total game conversion. Basicly this is a reality based swat vs terrorists mod, in other words there are no health packs or powerups, weapons are all real world weapons with no hand held Vulcan cannons or rocket launchers just weapons you would find in most modern day swat weapons lockups. M16's, mp5's, frag grenades, shotguns and such. and get this you can actually hurt yourself if you fall off a roof and you have to reload your weapon. Now thats refreshing. Gamers that are used to the traditional UT mode of multiplayer are in for a shock. Strafing and jumping up and down while trying to kill someone will only get you killed and make you look stupid. To put it simply, if you can't do it in real life you cant do it in this game. So without further delay here we go.

A) Does the Game/Mod run well on an avrage PC ? YES! Strike Force actually runs better than the origional Unreal Tournament no lag at all even at the higher resolutions with all effects turned on.

B) Does the Game/Mod look good ? YES! Strike Force once again looks BETTER than the origional UT. graphics are incredible and are not done at the expense of game speed (framerates)

C) How much space does the Game/Mod require ? The Strike Force manual quotes 100MB of harddisk space as well as the retail version of UT installed on your PC. (and worth every MB)

D) Is the game fun or boring and is it a rip off of another more popular game ? Is it fun? Does a bear shit in the woods? YES! it's one of the funest games I've played in a very long time and there is no other like it (I've looked)

E) Are there bugs or other aspects of the game that prevent the gamer from getting full enjoyment ? This is a big one, the worst bug I can think of is at the begining of the round, not every round, only once in a while it won't let you chose your weapons and once in a while the game will skip rounds for no aparent reason. One improvement they could make is to allow the gamer more controll of the enemy bots and the team sizes being able to have uneven teams would also be a bonus. However these shortcomings are not enough to spoil gameplay.

F) Is it worth your hard earned money ? This is the best part IT'S FREE, I suspect judging buy the quality that this will not always be the case it's only a mater of time before a smart game developer picks these guys up.

G) Is there multiplayer and does it run well ? We tested this aspect of the game untill we almost passed out. We loaded the servers with 16 players and all the effects turned on and reolution at 1024x768 as well as having Microsoft Gamevoices runing at the same time and the were no lags or glitches whatsoever not even a hickup.

Conclusion

If you play only one game this year forget regular Unreal Tournament and play Strike Force. It is a refreshing change from the usuall 1st person shooters out there. Currently there is only deathmatch and team deathmatch gaming modes available but other gaming modes are coming soon, get Strike Force now while it's still free.
